Frequently Asked Questions

  • I do not. The Discovery Session serves our initial point of connection in the studio. All students new to my Atelier can book one here. I look forward to working with you!

  • Both Pilates and yoga are low-impact, mind-body practices, but they have different focuses. Yoga combines movement, breath, and sometimes meditation to improve flexibility, balance, and inner calm. Pilates focuses on core strength, posture, and controlled movement to build stability and support the body.

While yoga often flows through poses, Pilates uses precise, targeted exercises using specialized equipment to strengthen and align.

Both are great for overall wellness; it just depends on what your body needs!

  • Not at all. If you can breathe, you can do Pilates!

    1. Water Bottle

    2. A small towel

    3. Grippy socks (if you prefer to wear them)

    4. Good attitude and a curious mindset

    • Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy, free movement.

    • Be sure your clothing does not have zippers, snaps, or metal embellishments, as those elements can damage the equipment.

    • Similarly, I ask for you to remove all jewelry and avoid wearing large hair clips.

    • Please do not wear jeans, khakis, or cargo pants, as you will not be able to move effectively or safely.

    • Bare feet are encouraged during class, but grippy socks are welcome if you prefer.

  • In order to feel the benefits of Pilates, 1 to 2 sessions per week is ideal.

  • Pilates can support weight loss, especially when combined with a healthy diet and other exercise.

While it burns fewer calories than high-intensity workouts, it helps by strengthening muscles, reducing body fat, and improving overall body composition.
