About Andrea

I discovered Pilates during a tumultuous time in my life, adjusting to a new continent with a toddler and an infant in tow. After my very first private session, I was completely hooked.

It was challenging, but what struck me most was the sense of stillness—it felt like the world went quiet, and I started to feel parts of my body I hadn’t felt in ages, or maybe ever. My once-a-week session quickly turned into three times a week.

What I love most about Pilates is how it helps you truly connect with your body; it demands focus and presence, making it an active form of meditation for me.

Becoming an instructor wasn't part of my grand plan, but as I trained to deepen my own practice, I realized this method is too powerful not to share.

My favorite part of any class is seeing clients leave with new confidence, moving with ease, sometimes even slipping their shoes on effortlessly and walking away as agile as wild cats. Hearing about their weekend hikes or travel adventures is the best measure of progress, because Pilates is about how you carry what you learn at the “Atelier” into the rest of your life.

Before I taught.,.

I have a degree in Industrial Engineering and spent seven years as Vice President of Production and Supply Chain at a leather goods company in Mexico. This time gave me a strong foundation in discipline, precision, and leadership.

I Danced Flamenco…

My lifelong passion for movement led me to reconnect with Pilates. I danced Flamenco for almost 10 years in my youth, and I’ve always loved its mix of passion and precision allowing space to make it your own. Pilates gives me a similar feeling. It offers structure, but also the freedom to move in a way that feels personal and true to you.

Rigorous Training…

I began my Classical Pilates certification in 2019, dedicating over 1,000 hours to rigorous training before becoming fully certified in 2021. I strongly believe in continuous education in order to offer the best possible service to my clients, and I attend workshops yearly to deepen my knowledge of Pilates and stay current within the industry.

“Atelier” means workshop…

Traditionally a space where artists, designers, or architects come together to create, I chose this name because, to me, teaching Pilates is a collaborative and creative process. Each session is a shared effort between me and my clients — an exploration within the framework of the Pilates method to discover what works best for their unique needs, goals, and bodies. Just like in an artist’s atelier, this is a space for mindful work, discovery, and transformation.

Fighting Misconceptions…

Joseph Pilates introduced his form of exercise to the U.S. in the 1920s. But it was popularized by celebrities in the mid-2000s who, already being at the peak of their fitness journey, endorsed Pilates as the next big thing. This made many normal people think it was beyond them, but I assure you Pilates is for everyone at every stage.

In the World

When I’m not teaching Pilates, you’ll usually find me hanging out with my family and our lovable dog.

I’m a travel enthusiast and I speak five languages (which really helps when asking locals for the best restaurant in town!)

Travel changes my perspective and is a break in my routine that helps me find inspiration and motivation for all areas of my life.

I have a not-so-secret obsession with collecting cookbooks from every corner of the globe. My current favorite is Ottolenghi Test Kitchen.

But no matter where I am or what I’m doing, Pilates is always on my mind, even while standing in line at the airport!
